ESPN has two different bowls in mind
Kyle Bonagura: Guaranteed Rate Bowl vs Rutgers
Mark Schlabach: Autozone Liberty Bowl vs Auburn
This is an interesting matchup with Auburn, a team that just a few weeks ago looked to make a run at Alabama before it unraveled against South Carolina and Mississippi State. Auburn and Texas Tech met in the 1953-54 Gator Bowl on New Years Day. The Red Raiders won 35-14, I say let’s go for 2-0.
A bowl game against Rutgers would be historic, the two teams have never met. This would likely be a favorable matchup for the Red Raiders. The Scarlet Knights are currently 5-6, so they need a win this weekend to get an automatic bowl bid.
Action Network has a different Liberty Bowl matchup in mind
Texas Tech vs South Carolina
Much like the Rutgers matchup, these teams have never met on the football field. Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer knows a little about the Red Raiders from his time as an Oklahoma assistant. Certainly makes this an intriguing game.

Feels like some Deja Vu with the Falcons and Red Raiders in bowl season. the teams met twice in the early 1980s before a 1995 showdown in the Copper Bowl (now known as the Guaranteed Rate Bowl). Zebbie Lethridge and Byron Hanspard led the team to the 55-41 victory. The Red Raiders own the all-time series 2-1.

Feels like a trend here. Texas Tech to the Guaranteed Rate Bowl but no one really has a grasp on who the opponent might be. Things will become more clear after this weekend’s games.
